Imate Ultimate 8502

Imate 8502I recently got my hands on my very own Imate Ultimate 8502. I upgraded from the Imate JasJam and I must say that I’m very impressed.

The ultimate series includes two devices availble from Telstra on the NextG Network. The Ultimate 8502 is a front facing qwerty keyboard design and the Ultimate 9502 is the slide up screen format, similar to the JasJam. I chose the 8502 as I felt the keyboard on the 9502 was a little difficult to use especially when using the edge keys.

My impressions of the device.

Pros:

  • Smaller than the Jasjam
  • Keyboard more accessible

Cons:

  • Side Voice and Camera buttons do get in the way.
  • Camera only 2 MP – an upgrade would have been expected
  • Keys are quite small but easy to distinguish.
