Further to my previous article on the rumours of a Windows Mobile 7 release,

It appears that it may be some time yet before we get to see a new version of if the following from the IT PRo blog is correct,

James McCarthy, Microsoft’s business marketing manager, said: “Steve Ballmer has mentioned publicly that Windows Mobile 7 is slated for release in 2010 and we’re always working with our key OEM and operator partners on future products, although we have nothing formal to announce for now.”

To all you fan boys out there, please let out that breath you’ve been holding and  move on to another operating system.  It’s likely iPhone OS 4.0 will be out before Windows Mobile 7.

As a tech junkie, I’m disappointed that Microsoft can’t put up a credible alternative to the iPhone within 3 years. How long does it take to write this software anyway? While Apple has a lock on the media phone market, there is not going to be any price pressure to reduce the cost of it’s magnificent hardware.
